Pulau Tekong

I had a meeting at Pulau Tekong today. It was my 1st time
on this island. Waiting for my colleague at the ferry
terminal, & amongst all the army boys, somehow reminded me
of my days as a minority at the ITE. Anyhow, something odd
happened when I disembarked on the island. I begun
`inspecting' what I could see of the island, & the
facilities. In the wake of mishaps & deaths during NS
stints, I wanted to assure myself that this island is not
`dangerous' to recruits, like my boys. Then, I thought, am
I nuts??!! My boys not going to be enlisted soon. 1 is
still in nursery, & the other cannot even flip over. What
the heck am I doing?!!

Poor sick baby.

Jo was up almost every hour to feed. Poor baby could not drink well cos his blocked nose was hampering his ability to suck properly. He was also coughing alot cos he had alot of phelgm. At times, I fear he would chock to death on it. Sigh. Seems like my milk is not doing much on the anti bodies department.

Pee

Since Timo started school, he has become quite mischievous and somewhat disobedient. But then again, it could be because he is a 4 year old. Anyway, he disobeyed his daddy despite being warned not to, several times. Daddy blew his top, naturally. The sight of a weeping little boy, crouched over his puddle of pee is a very heart wrenching sight. As I cleaned him up in the bathroom, I explained to him that his daddy was not in the wrong. What followed were the 'Sorries' and the hugs ane kisses. But andy was disturbed by his little boy wetting his pants, when all he did was to yell loudly at him. He said that our boy was to turn out gay. I thought it was normal for frightened kids to do something like that? Andy did not think so. Is he right? We do notice timo doing some girly things at times. But is it normal cheekiness or hints of his inclination? I most certainly hope andy is wrong.

Just a couple more strands to go... till total baldhood (but only at the back of the head). This shot was taken last nite :( Posted by Hello

Balding even more. Pix taken about 2 weeks ago. Posted by Hello

Balding. Jo started to show bald patches about a month ago. That's when similar effects began taking place on my crowning glory as well. I must have wailed & whined about this to about everyone I know. What's scary is, this may go on till he's 6 mths old. That means there's still 2 more months to go!!! I don't have that many more strands of hair to spare. It's alarming to see bunches in the shower drain, on my pillow, on my clothes, on the floor... well, basically everywhere. Posted by Hello

That's me with thousands strands of hair missing :( :( :( Posted by Hello

Caffeine OD. I am positively experiencing that right now. Have not had coffee for such a long time, & I had a big mug today. Jo is 4 months old today & he pulled a stunt on me through last night. He was probably feeling nostalgic & drank like a newborn. In addition to that, for the 1st time, he chatted & chuckled aloud (very loud) to himself for a good 45 mins from 5am. I could strangle him, but how could I have the heart to do that? He's soooo adorable. Plus, he's so tubby, I can't even reach for his neck. Double chin's in the way.  Posted by Hello

Can't wait for Lil Bro to grow up

Last night, Timo told me he loved his lil bro.  He kept hugging the poor lil chap's head, & pinching his cheeks.  I allowed that to go on, whilst keeping a watchful eye on them.  Was fearful that he'll break the small guy's neck or something.  Anyway, it was quite a sweet sight.  He also kept grumbling to me that Jo was taking too long to grow up.  Asked me several times when his lil bro will grow up & play with him.  They are 4 years apart.  Did we make the gap too big?  And I wonder too, should we have another, or are these 2 boys it?

Gag order

I do not recall Timo owning 1 of these pacifiers, ever. Personally, I do not like these over their mouths, but they are popped in there every now & then. Fortunately, so far, both Bella & Jo are not addicted to them.

3 monkeys

Timing could not have been more impeccable. Agnes, her friend Patrina, & I conceived at pretty much the same time. Patrina's Luke was born 17 Jan, my Jo on 18 Jan, & Agnes' Bella on 25 Jan. All born in the year of the monkey, but Bella's the one & only Princess.

Babies' favourite past time

Jo and Bella's favourite activity, apart from drinking milk and napping, is watching the mobile above the crib. It is a wonder that they do not tire of the same 3 items dangling above them, and also of the same Mozart tune that the device is equipped with. :) Such is the simple pleasures in life.

Bro affection

Since Jo was born, I often wondered if there would be some sibling rivalry between the two boys. I also wondered if big bro loves Jo. Tonight, I was sure there is indeed love. A family friend carried Jo and Timo protested loud and long - in fact, I was quite sure he was about to burst into tears because she teased him about bringing baby Jo home. Timo is a nice big bro. How could I ever have doubted that?

Partners in crime

Close cuzzies. Best pals. Or as Grandpalabels them, Partners in crime. These 2 are always up to something cheeky. We sure can't wait til Bella and Jo can get onto their feet. It will be like a zoo at our place!

Hands-on Father

The boys just love bedtime stories with their Daddy. My Darling husband is such a hands-on dad. I simply love him for being so involved with our boys. This is his big redeeming factor for letting my birthday slip past his mind this year.

There goes the curly locks

Jo had his 1st haircut.  Was feeling a lil sentimental about his curly locks. They look messy, & silly on him at times, but I've grown accustomed to the bunches of cauliflower at the sides of his face.  But now, he looks much more like his big bro.  Same broad face & plump checks, but with his own trademark squinty eyes.  I think I could get use to this new look.

Spare the rod, spoil the child?

How does one thread the fine line of parenting? Should a parent be harsh & firm & seem almost like a despot? Or should there be some form of negotiation & reasoning with the child? When does the scale tip over, & it becomes spoiling a child?

There was a brawling session this morn. I was late to work, but yet had to attend to my lil 4 yr old. He did not want to go to school, & wanted to watch his tv - Playhouse Disney Channel means the world to him. . Now, of course this is a no-no. His daddy said no, I said no, & the tears poured forth. I coaxed Timo into going to school, & that he could watch tv when he got home. After much haggling (& much more tears), he agreed & I thought it was a victory.

Little did I know that much earlier in the morn, my 4 yr old, in his desperate attempt to watch telly, had threatened Andy that he would not be calling him "Daddy" anymore if he did not get his way??!!!

Did I unintentionally spoil him? Am I slowly letting him get away with murder? Should I re-evaluate my parenting approach, & perhaps adopt an autocratic style?
