Kiddy rides in the malls

I liken kiddy rides in malls to `traps'. Kiddies will simply run towards it, & then budging, beg for some $. Some kids scream & wail when they do not get their way, & parents have to literally tear them away from the machines. Fortunately Timo does not do that sort of thing. `No' means no. Of course, I do relent sometimes, but I feel the $1 & $2 rides in the malls way too costly. Mothercare has a $0.50 one that is still within my threshold. Then, of course there are those what Andy calls `dirty ones' dotting the way to the mall on the roads. These costs $0.20 each, so I'd rather Timo sits in them. Anyway, we'll be going home for a scrub down.

When Timo was younger, his Grandpa got him a bouncy/rocking/wheeling ride-on Tigger. Thought that might do the trick of luring him away from kiddy rides outsite. That didn't quite do the trick, & Tigger didn't last very long. Maybe our usage was a tad too rough?

Recently, I was really happy to see that someone locally was selling a used Tomy ride on train set with tracks. I had seen this 4 years ago in the shops, but then they disappeared when I went back to purchase it. Shops told me that the product was discontinued. This morn, I bought it from a Daddy & brought it back home. Timo was very delighted. He's been going round in circles on it, & I hope the train does not break down & lasts long enough for Jo to have a go. Right now he is too young, & my MIL said he protests when she put him on for a lil ride. Said he'd rather watch it go round.

Looks fun, is it expensive?

Do you think it's best we don't start those rides in the first place? I remmeber I used to like them a lot too when I was young. It seems deprivation on one hand but then sounds like trouble on the other. ;p

Which one?

The Tigger cost us $150 then, but I see all shops offering it at $99 now. Think Ashton or Ryan has one too.

The Tomy train was something I wanted some years back. I think it cost over $100 then. Bought it 2nd hand for $50.

I know you won't be able to resist not putting Ainsley on 1 of those kiddy rides. I suppose you have to handle her properly - that se can have those rides sometimes only. You wouldn't want to be 1 of those parents who have to tear away screaming & wailing kids from the rides. I think it's very stressful & embarressing.
